Written warning for Lynne went not so great, she was so upset and aggravated at the point that her past two verbal warnings were grouped- as she said she was not properly sat down and met with. She said it was all false. I leaned into the conversation of counsel and transparency, and that the formalities had to be performed of documentation, but to learn and grow from this and lean on MOD for support. She said the lady was nasty the whole time, and that led me into my next conversation about going above and beyond in hospitality to try to turn the situation around. She said she asked for to go but was trained to say no. I told her that I can't confidently speak on previous management, but this is a situation where we could have made the lady feel better by killing her with kindness, went over we didn't know her situation, she was alone for thanksgiving. Lynne ended it by saying she didn't want to sign anything, as she disagrees with the other documentations even being mentioned. She was quiet all night, and was short with me the rest of the night. She mentioned how it was awful timing, and I expressed to her that timing isn't ideal before shift to have these conversations but I really consistently leaned into this is a transparent opportunity to continue to be aware of situations that people may need more TLC than others and thats our job in hospitality.
13 top family style dinner went really well. They were all very happy. I trained emma and evan on how to manage the flow, clear plates, suggest taking the last bite in guiding them into next course, etc. They did great and it was an awesome opportunity due to the rest of the restaurant quieting down.
Side work and getting off the clock continues to be an issue. Servers milk the clock, and as last night I had the issue with Satia taking an hour on sidework, same thing happened tonight with Breanna. A lot of talking and a lot of meandering about.
Erick came to me asking if D'ete was cut, and I told him that I told her to start wrapping things up. I went to the lobby and she was talking with Jackie. I asked if she was done and she said yes, but she hadn't been in the office to do her cashout so I asked if she was still on the clock and she said yes. We had a bit of exchange in me making it clear that we have to be mindful of the tip pool and socializing. She said well I bring most of the tips in anyway. I told her hey we are a tipped house, you do serve a majority of the guests, but the bartenders are making the cocktails. She said no, its mainly off of food I'm serving. I said hey I understand you may see it differently. but at the end of the day we are a team and everyone needs to be collectively working and it wouldn't feel great if the bartenders were chatting with front desk. She was fine and it was all good.
I was under the assumption that she would check in with erick before clocking out, but I guess she didn't. He got hit with two groups that wanted teas. He hadn't been trained on tea service, and came back very frantic and a bit rude to me. I didn't feed into it, I told him I would handle the teas, it's all good and I am happy to help. I apologized that I had thought D'ete checked in with him. These two don't work that well together. They will need to be thoroughly checked out in the sense of us asking for communication until they learn.
I had a women named Kim in snug, that complained about the size of her fish taco. Erick came to me regarding it. She said she is a regular and it is never that small (the piece of fish was pretty small). She wanted another one once I offered. Spoke to Will about it. Will eyeballs the fish when he cuts it, making sure it is appropriate in comparison to the tortilla, but he says it could have been the tail so it was narrower.
Overall fine night.
